Every six months I change my cell phone ring tone. Not because I want to hear the new Miley Cyrus song every time my wife calls, but because sometimes you just have to change things up.
It sounds silly but when I do, I feel… different; like it’s a new start and all those things I truly want to change about myself seem more possible.
Even those who truly embrace change get stuck in their ways. And sometimes all you need to get unstuck is to change something… anything.
So perhaps you’ve been training your employees a certain way for a while now and things are going well. You’re getting decent feedback and your boss is happy. Why change? Because when we become comfortable and content is sometimes when we become too complacent or even careless.
So every six months, make a change. I don’t necessarily mean sweeping changes, quite the contrary. Change the title of the program. Change the color of the landing page. Change the reminder email. Like I said, silly stuff but perhaps you’ll find yourself looking at it ever-so-differently. And pretty soon you might start making some changes that will have real impact.
If you’re not sure what “real” changes are needed, well that’s another story – an analysis is necessary to determine how you can take fair or good training and make it great. Write to us and tell us what change you might make, even if it’s just your ring tone (just no Miley or Justin, please!)
